Happy Valley moved up to fourth spot on the Southern Football League (SFL) ladder after defeating Cove by 29 points at Hallett Cove during round eight action today. The Vikings led at every change to triumph 14.11 (95) to 10.6 (66). Harry Davenport kicked three goals for Happy Valley in a best-on-ground display, while Jett Carlier and Shane Stagg kicked two goals each. Other good players for Happy Valley included Sam Flett, Jayden Little, Liam O’Connor, Stagg and Tain Smelt. Ryan Need kicked four goals for the Cobras and was named their best player, and he received good support from Nicholas Pijsters, Jayj Butler-Chaseling, Aaron Wordsworth and Alex Marra.
Morphett Vale won their second game in a row after a comfortable 63-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. The Emus led throughout before going on to win 21.13 (139) to 11.10 (76). Blake Carter and Stanley Tipiloura both kicked five goals for Morphett Vale, while Will Muirden and Nick Marshall each kicked two goals for the Thunderers. Best players for the Emus included Connor Lock, Brian Gill, Tipiloura, Robert Schindler-Taylor, Thaddeus Puautjimi and Bailey Sowter. Ironbank Cherry Gardens were best served by Dion Davidson, Jayden Rea, Joshua Brown, Chris Morgan, Marshall and Muirden.
Flagstaff Hill consolidated their spot in the top-three with a comprehensive 102-point victory at Aldinga today. The Falcons led by 40 points at halftime, before kicking a further 10 goals to one in the second half to win 18.14 (122) to 3.2 (20). ‘Flaggies’ had 11 different goalkickers with Sam Smith and Jordan Etto kicking three goals each. Jayden Scott kicked all three of the Sharks goals. Best players for Flagstaff Hill were Caleb McCormick, Etto, Ryan Mountford, D’Arcy Mitchell, Michael Shearer and Aiden Grayson, while the Sharks were best served by Scott O'Dea, Izaih Wortley, Angus Stangewitz, Ryan Parry, Ishmael Palmer and Mitchell Jarrett.
Port Noarlunga are still undefeated after defeating Christies Beach by 26 points at ‘Porties’ today. The home side got out the blocks quickly to take a 26-point lead at quarter time. Christies Beach won the next two quarters to reduce the margin to a gettable 15 points at the last change. However, the Cockle Divers proved too strong, kicking six goals to four in the last quarter, to win 17.12 (114) to 13.10 (88). Nick Steele kicked eight goals (33 for the season) in a best-on-ground performance for Port Noarlunga, while Nathaniel Paredes kicked three majors. Other good players for ‘Porties’ included Sam Abbott, Billy Cook, Rhys Mckay and Eduard Van den berg. Alan Singh, Jace Daris, Zak Short and Josh de Roode all kicked two goals for the Saints, while their best players were de Roode, Michael Mazey, Daris, Jordan Hunnable-Ford, Mackenzie Nield and Nathan Sable.
Reynella won their third game in a row after defeating Noarlunga by eight points in a low-scoring affair at Old Noarlunga this afternoon. The Wine Flies set up their victory with a four goal to zero second term to lead by 23 points at the main break. The Shoes fought back in the third quarter to reduce the margin to 10 points with a quarter to go. Each team kicked two goals in the final stanza as Reynella won 10.6 (66) to 8.10 (58). Bradley Potter kicked three majors for Reynella, while Jamie Grosser and Terry Kathopoulis kicked two goals apiece for the Shoes. Reynella’s best players included Brody Dayman, Talon Copley, Chris Hunter, Potter, Marc Borholm and Sam Whitbread. Noarlunga were best served by Luke Ross, Nick Mott, Josh Beard, Nathanael Dudley, Kathopoulis and Zac Williams.
