There will be no raping or pillaging, but strictly family-friendly fun when the SA Viking Festival launches a raid on Victor Harbor in October.

The festival celebrates all things Viking, Nordic, Scandinavian and other historic warring cultures.

The whales will be gone so there’s room for the longships to arrive, with festivities taking place on Warland Reserve on 3 and 4 October between 10am and 4pm.

Authentic re-enactments, costumes, craft and food will feature from the medieval and Viking eras.

Organisers, who are also behind the Barossa Medieval Fair, have been looking for local input from food trucks, vendors and hair stylists who can provide period-appropriate services.

Family tickets will be available, along with concession and student cardholder discounts.

Patron numbers will be capped each day to ensure safe distancing and a manageable event under current COVID-19 rulings and safety guidelines.

Keep an eye on the Facebook page for details.
