Alexandrina Council has postponed its next series of Village Conversations until next year to avoid clashing with the upcoming council elections.

The annual Village Conversations provide opportunities for the council team to engage with the community.

They take place in 14 townships across Alexandrina each spring so the council can listen, learn and evolve its commitment to creating a liveable, green and connected district. 

The 2022 Village Conversations season had been planned to start mid-October and continue through to late November.

They have been postponed until 2023 to avoid timing clashes with scheduled ‘meet the candidates’ sessions and to enable the newly elected body to hear first-hand from the various Alexandrina townships after this year’s council elections.

The council says the Master Plan consultations for Port Elliot, Middleton and Milang will continue as planned. 

The consultant team is preparing content from previous feedback received, initial community stakeholder meetings and 2021 Village Conversation outcomes to design and prepare for the upcoming co-design workshops. 

Information about the workshops and key dates for each township will be distributed once finalised. 

Chief Executive Officer  Nigel Morris says 2023 is shaping up as the year of the council listening to the community.

“The postponement of the Village Conversations will provide greater opportunities for focused feedback to be provided to the newly elected decision makers.”
