Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins has warned that council will close public facilities if people don’t follow social distancing rules over Easter.
In a Facebook video the mayor says she has done numerous media interviews telling people not to visit the south coast these holidays.
She says there will be extra police patrols in the district over Easter and council will monitor facilities such as the boat ramps, which will close if there are too many people doing the wrong thing.
Council has already closed The Bluff jetty for this reason.
Some businesses have decided to close over Easter to deter holiday overcrowding.
The Port Elliot Bakery is famous for its long lines of customers in holiday periods, but its doors will be shut from 10 to 13 April.
The business has also joined others in going cashless, temporarily accepting payment by card only.
Alexandrina Mayor Keith Parkes has reiterated the message for visitors to stay away to help top the spread of Covid-19.
“We have closed our playgrounds, dog parks, outdoor gym equipment, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and BBQ areas.
“We have also closed a number of our public toilets to ensure adequate supplied of hygiene products are available in those that remain open.”
