Victor Harbor Golf Club celebrated in style with an annual Volunteers Appreciation Day on November 16.
Manager Martin Southern says the club is not-for-profit and its volunteers help keep the wheels turning.
“We rely on our volunteers for everything from course maintenance to bar work, administration and gardening,” Mr Southern says.
“The club has about 100 volunteers in total, but just over 50 people were represented on the day”.
Those who attended were treated to nine holes of golf, followed by a gourmet barbecue and some well deserved drinks.
“There are about 3000 hours volunteered by the team of volunteers at our club each year, and really, we couldn’t do without them,” Mr Southern says.
“This is our one day that we give back; we value each and every one of our volunteers.”
Victor Harbor Golf Club has 600 members, and prides itself on being the friendliest club on the Fleurieu.
“We’re open to members of the public -- both club members and non-members are welcome,” Mr Southern says.
