The award-winning Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre has called for volunteers to get involved with its visitor services.

The District Council of Yankalilla will provide induction and training to successful applicants.

The visitor centre was recently judged the best in the state, taking out the 2022 South Australian Visitor Information Centre of the Year Award in May.

Former Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism executive Miranda Lang is now Manager, Infrastructure and Regional Engagement for the South Australian Tourism Commission.

She presented the award to Darren Burgess, Team Leader, Tourism & Visitors and Jenny Howes, Tourism Administration Officer on behalf of the Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre at the state conference in Port Lincoln.

The council says the award is a coup for its experienced team and a big tick of approval for the on-going improvements it has made to the visitor experience.

“The reason our Fleurieu Coast Information Centre was chosen, in 2022, was our ability to increase traffic and engagement with visitors and community through the implementation of our online booking portal.

“Throughout 2021 we embarked on auditing and delivering a new look website and online booking experience for our visitors to the region and our local community events.

“From the inception of the booking portal we have received an increase in online traffic to our website, visitfleurieucoast.com.au, which has improved our Search Engine Optimization score and now has our webpage ranked third on the list for the google search "Fleurieu Coast".

“In 2022 we want to be the booking site for all Fleurieu Coast events.”
