City of Onkaparinga is asking the community to help choose a formal name for the park located on the Esplanade in Port Noarlunga South. 

Potential names were suggested through an initial community engagement process and the council has shortlisted four to go to a public vote.

They are:

• Seaford and Districts Lions Park - in recognition of the ongoing contributions of a local service club in the area.
• Little Rincon Park – to match the name of the local surf break located adjacent to this park.
• Little Captains Park – to reflect the nautical theme of the park with the play equipment including a boat.
• Tiny Treasures Park - reflecting the nautical theme of the park and the smaller children who will use the park.

The council says it received a number of suggestions to apply a Kaurna name to the park, but has been unable to identify the traditional Kaurna name for the area. 

Anyone registered on the City of Onkaparinga Your Say site is able to lodge a vote; voting closes on Sunday 10 August.

The outcome of the vote will be presented to the council later this year, when councillors will decide on the final name for the park.
