Independent Mayo MP Rebekha Sharkie will host a forum and lunch at the Macclesfield RSL tomorrow, Friday 1 September.

The event will provide an opportunity to hear from guest speakers about topics of relevance to local RSLs and war memorials.

Ms Sharkie will be joined by Robyn Van-Dyk, head of the Australian War Memorial Research Centre, and Janice Silby, Deputy Commissioner for South Australia for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Ms Van-Dyk will speak to the online services available to RSLs and community war memorials to assist with historical research efforts, while Ms Silby will present information about grants available through the DVA.

“This forum reflects the ongoing commitment and dedication shown by our local RSLs and War Memorials and highlights the work our Mayo community does in preserving and operating these local institutions,” Ms Sharkie says.

“Mayo is full of captivating stories we must fight to preserve well into the future. 

“The guidance and information provide by our guest speakers will assist our local organisations in navigating this process.”
