Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA) has distributed its 2023-24 kerbside collection calendar, with changes to schedules and collection days.
As of the first week of July the blue lid general waste bin will be collected across the region, with the yellow recycling and green organics bins collected in the second week.
This means that households in the Alexandrina, Victor Harbor and Yankalilla districts will have general waste bins collected two weeks in a row.
They will have to wait an extra week for their recycling and green organics bins to be collected.
The new calendars include a map indicating collection days and they can also be viewed on the FRWA website. https://fleurieuregionalwasteauthority.com.au/kerbside-collections-change-1-july-2023/
District Council of Yankalilla residents will see major changes, with collections taking place over five days.
The new collections days will be:
FRWA says the changes are in response to significant population growth and an increase in green organics collections.
It says the new collection schedule simplifies collections across the Fleurieu Peninsula, with all residents having the same waste types collected on the same week.
All waste streams will continue to be collected on a fortnightly basis, except during the peak summer period when recycling and organics bins are collected weekly for six weeks.
Exceptional circumstances (red lid) bins that are annually approved for renewal from July will continue to be collected when the general waste (blue lid) bins are collected.
