- If you become stuck in your car:
- Park away from bushes
- Cover yourself
- Get down low on the floor, as windows may break due to heat
🏠 If you are staying to defend
- Identify a safe place inside with more than one exit
- Keep moving away from heat as conditions change
- Bring pets inside and restrain them
- Move flammable items (doormats, wheelie bins, outdoor furniture) away from the house
- Close doors and windows to reduce smoke
- If available, turn on sprinklers to wet surrounding areas
- If the building catches fire, move to an area already burnt
- Watch for and extinguish spot fires if it is safe to do so
