Emergency services were called to The Esplanade just before 11am Sunday 20 July after reports a boat had capsized about 1 km from shore and five occupants were in the water.

Surf Life Savers were able to quickly launch a vessel and all five occupants were brought to shore.

All five patients were taken to hospital where they remain.
