Weaving Through Time showcases her unwavering dedication to culture, community and innovation in contemporary weaving.
Aunty Ellen Trevorrow is a proud Ngarrindjeri woman and a prolific, internationally acclaimed weaver with more than 40 years of weaving experience.
Curated by Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna, Narrunga woman Carly Takari Dodd, Weaving Through Time displays mainly new works, produced with long-time collaborator Dr Jelina Haines.
The exhibition documents Aunty Ellen’s evolution as an artist, from her early traditional baskets and fish traps to her recent wearable works, including dresses, jewellery and textiles.
A launch event for the exhibition will be held on Sunday 18 January at 2pm, with all welcome and no bookings required.
It will feature a kids weaving activity in the workshop area, where they can follow self-guided step-by-step instructions provided by Aunty Ellen about Ngarrindjeri weaving to create their own piece at their own pace.
The exhibition will be open Wednesday to Sunday 10am–4pm and runs until 1 March at the Signal Point Experience Centre in the Goolwa Wharf Precinct.
