The Middleton Town and Foreshore Association has invited the community to celebrate the official launch of its new whale sculpture on Sunday 27 August.

Depicting a Southern Right Whale and her calf, ‘Buttons & Bobby’ was sculpted by artist Silvio Apponyi from a fallen redgum tree transported from Naracoorte in March.

The sculptor, tree donor Peter Westley and Alexandrina CEO Nigel Morris will all will all speak at the event, which starts at 11am.

A free sausage sizzle will be on offer and a coffee van will be on site for caffeine purchases.

The sculpture site is at Seaview Avenue, next to the Encounter Bikeway.
