Whale sighting

The SA Whale Centre has reported a Southern Right Whale seen about 500 metres from shore at Middleton today (24 June). The whale was first sighted around 11am and could still be seen from Chapman Road at 11.30am. He/she is travelling slowly towards Goolwa.

The team also received a call this morning of a sighting at Lady Bay near Yankalilla yesterday morning. This whale was also quite far from shore so the centre couldn't confirm the species.

According to the centre, it is still incredibly important to remember to maintain social distancing when out whale watching this season and to keep washing or sanitising your hands whenever possible. The centre encourages everyone to get out and about to have a look for whales but urges everyone to do it safely and consider all other people as well.

Keep your eyes peeled and if you see a whale, remember to call the SA Whale Centre on 08 8551 0750, send them a message on their Facebook page or enter a report online at www.sawhalecentre.com.au
