Wholesale items and wholesome vibes – what you can expect from Port Noarlunga’s newest store.

A new store has opened in Port Noarlunga, with bulk foods and household goods available at affordable prices.

Located in Gawler Street, Heart & Whole Bulk Foods had its opening last weekend.

Owners Birdie and Luke are a young couple from Port Noarlunga; Birdie dreamt of opening her own bulk food shop after working in a similar store in Coffs Harbour.

“When I saw how pricey some of the bulk shops could be near the city, Luke and I decided to create our own store that was affordable to everyone,” Birdie says.

The store has been stocked full of dry goods; eggs; local dairy products, like Paris Creek milk, yoghurt and cheese; and fresh bread is delivered three times a week.

“We’re extremely conscious of stocking as much local product as possible, and we’re open to community letting us know what they want as well,” Birdie says.

Some of the main products available to buy in bulk include:

• Flours, including gluten free options.
• Salts and sugars.
• Cereals, seeds and grains.
• Nuts and dried fruit.
• Beans and pulses.
• Confectionary.
• Sweeteners, like honey and maple syrup.
• Cooking oils.
• Cleaning supplies.

In a bid to be Earth-conscious and reduce single use plastics, customers are encouraged to bring their own jars and bottles to fill up.

“We know the community has been asking for something like this for so long and it seemed like the right time to do it,” Birdie says.

The store is open seven days a week, 9am to 6pm weekdays and 8am to 4pm on weekends.
