Jigsaw Mania will return to Willunga this weekend, with the event set to last a whole day.

The fun day will take place at the Willunga Recreation Park halls on Saturday 15 May from 10.30 am onwards.

Social puzzling is available all day, from 10.30am to 6pm, with a $5 entry fee including loan puzzles, and free entry for children under the age of five.

Jigsaw competitions will also feature on the day, with both fun and fast-paced options for those wanting to put their skills to the test.

Eager puzzlers who love a challenge will compete in the South Australian Jigsaw Competition events. Winners of each category will represent South Australia in the National Jigsaw Puzzle Competition in Melbourne in November.

Puzzlers will need to finish a 500-piece jigsaw in a timeframe of two hours or less for solo puzzlers and three hours or less for pairs. The competition starts at 12pm for the solo event and 4pm for pairs.

For those wanting a fun-filled challenge, the Willunga Jigsaw Competition will also take place at 4pm, with competitors strongly encouraged to dress up for the occasion.

A dedicated children’s area will be set up on the day, featuring puzzles of all sorts for different age groups including foam mat puzzles for toddlers, wooden puzzles, large floor puzzles and a selection of puzzles for primary school age children.

Jigsaw Mania will also include puzzle exchanges, a raffle and trading table, and a giant 18,000-piece jigsaw puzzle on display.

The community-assembled Ravensburger puzzle, titled ‘The Magical Bookcase’ measures 276 x 192 cm and retails at $450; it will be sold to the highest bidder on the day, including online bids. 

Refreshments available for purchase on the day include coffee, beer and wine, with food options of cake, soup, dumplings and steamed buns.
