Reigning premier Willunga are through to the FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s Great Southern Football League Grand Final after defeating McLaren by 30 points in the second semi-final at McLaren Vale yesterday. The game was tight for the first three quarters as the Demons led by 14 points at the last change with a spot in the decider up for grabs. Willunga pulled away in the final term, kicking three goals to zero, to win 8.3 (51) to 3.3 (21). Tamara Page, Tessa Kohn and Lauren Buchanan kicked two goals each for Willunga, while Hannah Georgeson also kicked two goals for the Eagles. Ella Radbone, Katrice Turner, Kristen Rothwell, Lauren Clifton and Clare Holmes were named best players for Willunga. Best for McLaren included Caitlin Ross, Jessica Veasey and Layla Rogers.
Goolwa/Port Elliot made their way through to the Preliminary Final after defeating Strathalbyn by 25 points in the first semi-final at McLaren Vale. The Magpies led throughout to win 6.4 (40) to 2.3 (15). Kaya Angus and Laura Jones kicked two goals each for the Magpies. Megan Rich and Tijana Jokic were the goalkickers for the Roosters. Kalani Bates, Angus, Tracey O’Donnell, Rachel Searle and Renee Moon were best for Goolwa/Port Elliot. Tessa Grant, Emma Chapman and Tess Huxtable were among the best players for Strathalbyn.
