Willunga Under 17 Girls win premiership in Great Southern FootballWillunga Under 17 Girls celebrate their 44-point win over Goolwa/Port Elliot in the Grand Final yesterday.

Willunga won the Great Southern Football League under 17’s girls premiership following their 44-point win over Goolwa/Port Elliot in the grand final at Victor Harbor yesterday. Goolwa/Port Elliot started well, kicking the only goal of the first term to lead by five points at quarter time. Willunga got their game going in the second term as they kicked two goals to one and took a slender two-point lead at the long break. The third quarter was a real arm wrestle with neither team kicking a goal and the margin just a solitary point in favour of Willunga at the final change. Amazingly the game changed completely in the final quarter with the Demons slamming on seven goals without reply to win 9.4 (58) to 2.2 (14). Emily Steele was a star for Willunga with four goals in a best on ground performance, while Jessica Harris and Isabelle Cameron chipped in with two goals each. Deriney Headon and Indiana Quaremba kicked the Magpies' two goals. Joining Steele in the best players for the premiers were Shae Archbold, Holly Ifould, Ada Anninos, Cleo Guilfoyle and Bella Rigby. Best for Goolwa/Port Elliot were Kalani Bates, Rachael Sommerville, Mia Headon, Latisha MacGowan and Nikita Wilson.
