The Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island appear not to be in the direct firing line of the severe weather currently making its way across South Australia, although wet and windy conditions will be expected today (Friday 23 October) and across the rest of the weekend.

Although there aren’t any current severe weather warnings for our local communities, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a warning to sheep graziers in the Mount Lofty Ranges, which is the forecast area encompassing the Fleurieu Peninsula.

At 10.13am today the BOM warned the region’s sheep graziers that cold conditions, showers and thunderstorms with local heavy falls and fresh to strong southerly winds were expected for this evening. The BOM says there is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions. This warning was also issued to graziers in the Lower Eyre, Eastern Eyre, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders and Mid North districts.

There are severe weather warnings in place in some other areas of the state today because of  of a deep low weather front east of Tarcoola moving eastwards, with heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms battering areas such as the Eyre Peninsula.

The forecast for Victor Harbor today was a max temperature of 20 with some showers and becoming windy, and a shower or two tomorrow (Saturday 24 October) and a top of 16, with a similar forecast for Sunday.

It was expected to be ever so slightly warmer in Strathalbyn today with a top of 21, and a 90 per cent chance of rain.

Tops of 15 and 14 were expected across the rest of the weekend with a shower or two.

In Parawa, today's top temperature was expected to be 16, with an 80 per cent change of showers. Over Saturday and Sunday, the max temperature was only expected to get to 13 and 12 respectively, with a shower or two expected each day.

On Kangaroo Island, a maximum temperature of 18 was expected in Kingscote today amid some showers and windy conditions. Saturday was expected to be cloudy and 16 and there was a 50 per cent chance of some more showers on Sunday, with a top of 15. The forecast was very similar for Parndana, but with slightly cooler maximum temperatures.
