Wine Flies close in on minor premiership in the Southern Football League Women's competition

Reynella moved a step closer to the minor premiership following their 65-point win at Christies Beach during round 10 action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition yesterday. The Wine Flies led all day to win 10.11 (71) to 1.0 (6). Reynella skipper Caitlin Williams kicked four goals, while Rachael Farlam kicked the only goal for ‘Christies’. Zannah Loxton, Sarah Bourn, Catherine Quinn, Tyler Davies, Emma James and Dominique Byrne were named best players for the undefeated Reynella side. For Christies Beach, Melanie Koster, Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald, Monique Hepden, Paige Simmons and Isabella Zito were their best.


Flagstaff Hill flexed their muscles with a huge 188-point win against Hackham. The Falcons led by 50 points at quarter time, 98 points at halftime and 145 points at the last change, before winning 27.26 (188) to 0.0 (0). ‘Flaggies’ had an amazing 18 different goalkickers with skipper Tamsyn Morriss leading the way with five majors in a best-on-ground performance. Other good players for Flagstaff Hill were Brooke Kleinig, Amelia Morriss, Elouisa Thomas, Chloe Meyers and Rachel Crockart. Sarah Noble, Kaylah Richards and Rhylee McCall were among the best players for Hackham.


Port Noarlunga won their seventh game of the season with a tight three-point win at Aldinga yesterday. ‘Porties’ looked to have the game wrapped up at three quarter time as they led by 16 points but Aldinga had other ideas, as they kicked the only two goals in the last quarter to get within three points, but it was too late as ‘Porties’ held on to win 3.4 (22) to 3.1 (19). Madison Harris kicked two goals for Port Noarlunga, while Holly Wilde also kicked two goals for Aldinga. Harris was named best player for the Cockle Divers and she was ably supported by Bree Chapman, Sheridan Poland, Elisha Scriven and Nikki Parker. Best for Aldinga were Amber O’Hanlon, Charlotte Bayford, Eilish O’Hanlon, Wilde and India Handorf.
