Reynella won the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade premiership after defeating reigning premier Flagstaff Hill by 32 points in the Grand Final at Flinders University Oval this afternoon. The Wine Flies were never headed as they recorded a comfortable 6.7 (43) to 1.5 (11) victory. The game was set up in the first half as Reynella took a 29-point lead to halftime. The warm afternoon conditions took their toll in the second half as both teams could only add one goal each. Georgia Scholes kicked three goals for Reynella, while Emily Franklin kicked two majors. Emma Hoppo was the sole goalkicker for ‘Flaggies’. Madison Bennett was best for Reynella with good support coming from Anja Bancevic, Morgan Blackwell, Caitlin Walter, Sophie Bradford and Shanique West. Best for Flagstaff Hill included Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Brockhurst, Kelsey Rodman, Alana Baker and Elouisa Thomas.
In the other Sunday competition grand finals, Reynella added to their premiership haul with wins in the under 14 girls, under 15 boys and ‘C’ grade men, while Christies Beach won the under 17 girls premiership with a 14-point win against Happy Valley.
