Wine Flies Women lead the way in the Southern Football League

Reynella remained undefeated after 10 rounds of the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) season after defeating Cove by 62 points at Hallett Cove on yesterday. Reynella led at every change to win 9.12 (66) to 0.4 (4). Emily Anne Franklin continued her excellent season for the Wine Flies as she was named best on ground and also kicked two goals. Morgan Blackwell kicked two goals as well. Other good players for Reynella were Grace Doran, Renee Wurfel, Georgia Scholes and Madison Bennett. For Cove, Jessica Sims, Layla Dungey, Ashleigh Need, Rebecca O’Shaughnessy and Jaime Norup were named their best players.


Christies Beach moved up to third spot on the ladder with a convincing 98-point win at Aldinga. The Saints led by 30 points at quarter time, 68 points at halftime and 71 points at the last change before winning 15.9 (99) to 0.1 (1). Brooke O’Brien kicked five goals for ‘Christies’ and Emily Risitano kicked four. Best for the Saints were Nicole Campbell, Melanie Koster, Rachael Farlam, Neriah Milis and Mia Dunn while for Aldinga, Jessica McCann, Amy Mathewson and Ayla Regione were among their best players.


Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill consolidated second spot on the ladder with a 62-point win at Port Noarlunga. The Falcons led by 42 points at halftime before winning 8.15 (63) to 0.1 (1). Emily Brockhurst continued her excellent recent form to kick six goals. Brockhurst has kicked 20 goals in the past three games and 35 overall in 2021.Isobel Dyson chimed in with two goals. Chloe Meyers was adjudged best for the Falcons and she was well supported by Erin McSorley, Zoe Walker-Roberts and Emily Erickson. Sam Lynch, Madison Harris and Phillipa Worthley were among the best players for Port Noarlunga.
