The Port Noarlunga jetty will close for maintenance from 1 May 2023.
This work is expected to take around six to eight weeks to complete and will require the complete closure of the jetty .
The timeframe will depend on favourable weather conditions and the closure may need to be extended.
The City of Onkaparinga says it is aware the closure will cause disruption and inconvenience and have attempted to minimise this by scheduling the work to occur outside of the busy summer period and following the Easter long weekend.
The maintenance work includes replacing deteriorated timber decking within the first section of the jetty closest to the shoreline.
A combination of new timber and existing boards will be used to repair the defective ones.
Corroded or damaged handrails will also be repaired and structural repairs will be made to an existing jetty pile located next to the central water access stairs.
The jetty handrails and kickboards will need to be removed for the duration of the project while the decking boards are replaced.
This will create an unsafe environment, which is why the jetty will be closed to the public during the works.
Full details of the project are on the City of Onkaparinga website.
