Wisanger won their first Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) ‘A’ grade premiership since 2005 with a 25-point win over a gutsy Western Districts outfit at Parndana on Saturday. Wisanger came into the game as favourites, having lost just one game for the season. Western Districts had an amazing finals run, winning three consecutive games on their way to the decider. Wisanger started well to lead by 20 points at quarter time. Western Districts got themselves right back in the game as they kicked four goals to one in the second term to trail by just one point at halftime. The third quarter is often called the ‘premiership quarter’ and so it turned out to be for the Panthers as they kicked six goals to two to go to the last change with a handy 29-point buffer. The last quarter was pretty even with Wisanger going on to win 12.13 (85) to 8.12 (60). Sam Clifford kicked five goals for Wisanger, while Dustin Cross kicked three. Lleyton Hedges kicked three goals for Western Districts. Brok Viney-Obst, Cross, Liam Sampson, Luke Stewart and Luke Bowd were named as Wisanger’s best players. Best for Western Districts were Damon Weatherspoon, Dylan Lockett, Josh Graham, Ty Boyle and Tim Larcombe.

In other grades, it was a good day for Kingscote as they won their third ‘B’ grade flag in a row with a comfortable 44-point win against Dudley United. Kingscote also won the Senior Colts premiership with a convincing 76-point win against Western Districts.
