Wisanger knock off top of the table Western Districts

Wisanger have knocked off top team Western Districts at Gosse by 38 points in round 17 of the Kangaroo Island Football League on Saturday. It was the Panthers’ eighth win of the season and puts them just one win behind the ladder leading Saints. It was a tight opening half with just five goals kicked between the teams with the home team Western Districts holding a narrow five point lead at the long break. With the game evenly poised, Wisanger produced a barnstorming third quarter kicking 8 goals to zero and took an unassailable 46-point lead into the final term before winning 11.11 (77) to 5.9 (39). Khyal Stead was a star up forward for Wisanger with four goals and he was supported by Luke Stewart, Gavin Mason and Reece Boulden who all kicked two goals each. Henry Riggs, Damon Weatherspoon and Cameron Florance were best for Western Districts. 


Kingscote kept their double chance hopes alive with a crushing 78-point win at home over winless Dudley United, 20.11 (131) to 8.5 (53) The reigning premier were untroubled in notching their eighth win of the season and will face off against Wisanger next week looking to snatch the all important double chance. Paul Green kicked seven goals for Kingscote and Koby Cockshell slotted five. It was the Clayton Willson show up forward for the Eagles as he kicked seven of his sides eight goals to be named best player for Dudley United. The Hounds’ best were Green, Cockshell and Rhys Lovering.


Parndana had the bye.
