Tread the new coastal boardwalk from 12pm on Friday 20 December when City of Onkaparinga cuts the ribbon and reveals the stunning views from the southern end of the Witton Bluff base trail.

The three-metre-wide, shared-use boardwalk winds around the bluff from just north of the Port Noarlunga jetty.

When the whole trail is completed, visitors will be able to journey all the way from Port Noarlunga to Christies each with wheelchairs, prams, bikes, or on foot without having to negotiate the steep clifftop esplanade.

From Friday’s opening, the Port Noarlunga end of the trail will be open for public use along the new boardwalk.

The Christies Beach end of the trail will remain closed while seawall repairs and path upgrades are carried out. The council expects this section to be completed by mid-2025.

Funded by the City of Onkaparinga and the state and federal governments, $9.6M will be spent along this section of the coast to improve accessibility, support active lifestyles, repair critical infrastructure and boost local tourism.

The Witton Bluff base trail can be accessed from the Esplanade at Port Noarlunga.
