Police are investigating a fire at Ashbourne today.

Just after 2.30pm, Monday 3 January, patrols and CFS crews were called to a property on Ford Road, after reports of a grass fire. It took crews over an hour to extinguish the blaze which burnt about four hectares of grassland.

The fire was determined to have been accidentally caused by the owner of the property when carrying out some repairs.  The owner of the property, a 76-year-old woman, was issued with a $565 expiation notice for lighting fire in fire danger season.  No-one was injured in the fire.
