Women in business learn online toolsAt the McLaren Vale Women in Business dinner last month were Lauren Jackman, Wendy Harrison and Trish Newell.

August was a big month on the Fleurieu for women in business as they gathered at Victor Harbor and McLaren Vale to learn more about tools to help build their online presence.

The speaker was Helen Sampson from Jagged Crow Creative at Mount Jagged, an agency that not only builds websites and assists with marketing, but also offers a range of digital masterclasses.

“Many people don’t realise that Google is far more than just a search engine, it has a range of powerful tools to help with marketing, and is often the first port of call for your customers,” Helen says.

The range of tools covered in the presentation provided opportunities for businesses to closely monitor website traffic and visitor behaviour, to plan out keywords and topics to enhance their online presence and another to analyse the health of a website.

There was even an option to get a free website.

Although mainly focused on the free tools, Helen also gave a brief overview on Google Adwords, how they worked and what to watch out for if trying to organise them without expert assistance.

Those in attendance at both dinners were encouraged to update the accuracy of any listings online and to ensure keywords were used wherever possible in social media posts and on the website.

The next McLaren Vale event will be a lunch on September 15, when Lauren Paradise of Concept Data will speak about cyber security.

On October 6 Lisa Wells of Food Fear Freedom will speak at the Middleton Tavern about how to reclaim your health back from a busy work schedule.

The Women in Business Regional Network is open to business owners, managers, staff and those dreaming of owning their own business.
