Getting off to the right start in 2021 was the focus for the first Victor Harbor event of the year for the Women in Business Regional Network.
The dinner at the Hotel Crown was all about shaking off the challenges and restrictive thoughts of 2020 and moving ahead with purpose and confidence.
Network founder Carolyn Jeffrey shared her personal experience of doing a “brain dump” and starting to take even small steps towards achieving goals.
“(The year) 2020 left many people with a feeling of uncertainty and stress, even paralysis and fear about making plans for the future.”
Carolyn says by literally just dumping all your anxieties and painpoints on paper, or on the computer, and adding your goals and the associated steps to achieve them, is not only therapeutic but gives you opportunity to see a future that may not have been apparent.
“Even many small steps can add up to achieving a big goal, and let’s face it, after 2020 it feels even better to be able to tick off even the smallest step and to celebrate.”
There was much discussion too about opportunities for women to tap into business grants, including those currently on offer through Alexandrina Council and up to $10,000 through the state government’s SME Business Advisory Program.
The next Victor Harbor area function will be a lunch at the Middleton Tavern on Tuesday, February 23 when Hindmarsh Island life coach and podcaster Elle Crawford Marsden will speak about managing your mind to achieve results.
The Women in Business Regional Network is open to business owners, managers, staff and those dreaming of owning their own business. You don’t have to be a member to attend events, but bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
