Women take up art spaceI Am Here showcases the work of Fleurieu women artists

An exhibition of 3D works by regional women artists will be on display at the Coral Street Art Space from 14 August.

The ‘I Am Here’ exhibition recognises and celebrates the women’s contribution to Australian art and runs in tandem with the National Gallery of Australia program ‘Know my Name’.

The artists are based in the Fleurieu Peninsula, the Coorong and Kangaroo Island and include Gina Allain, Kath Beauchamp, Tracey Grivell, Jelina Haines, Chris de Rosa, Lindy Sando, Deb Sleeman, Ellen Trevorrow and Margaret Worth.

The art works present the perceptions and ambition of women artists who make a difference in their world.

Curators Margaret Worth and Gina Allain will hold a Q&A panel event on Sunday 15 August as part of the exhibition.

They will answer questions about arts practice: managing the production of ambitious works and sustainability in practices.

The talk will take place from 4pm to 5pm and booking is essential via Eventbrite.

The ‘I Am Here’ exhibition will run until 27 September.
