Woods close in on top-four in Southern Football League Women's

Blackwood won their fifth game of the season to move up to equal fourth on the ladder after a comfortable 41-point win over Christies Beach during round 11 action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition at Blackwood yesterday. Ava Bagshaw, Jade Quinn and Madeleine Drew kicked two goals each for the Woods to help them to a 6.13 (49) to 1.2 (8) victory. Best players for Blackwood included Lila Cormack-Pinder, Michaela Collins, Lily Brook, Caitlin Hill, Drew and Sophie Parker. Christies Beach was best served by Maisie Hunt, Lekisha Nelson, Chloe Brooks, Bella Wheatley, Ela Nankervis and Lillie Ackroyd.


Port Noarlunga remained undefeated after their 54-point win over Hackham yesterday. ‘Porties’ led by 39 points at halftime, before kicking three goals to one in the second half to win 9.7 (61) to 1.1 (7). Tyla Pyman and Eilish O’Hanlon kicked two goals each for the Cockle Divers, while Chelsea Parsons kicked the only goal for Hackham. Best players for Port Noarlunga were Abby Dittmar, Maddy Craggs, Eilish O’Hanlon, Pyman, Tegan Lane and Lucinda Bunge. Best players for the Hawks included Katelyn Wilson, Alana Browne, Parsons, Shannon Gaskell, Samantha Smyth and Alisha MacFadyen.


Flagstaff Hill won their second game in a row with a 22-point win over Reynella at Reynella yesterday. ‘Flaggies’ won every quarter on their way to the 4.8 (32) to 1.4 (10) victory. Jessica Couch kicked two goals for the Falcons, giving her 47 majors for the season, while Neive Morgan kicked the only goal for the Wine Flies. Melanie Koster, Angela Rose, Brooke Watson, Tiana Lush, Imogen Russell and Sienna Chapman were named best for the Falcons, while best players for Reynella included Sienna Garner, Ashlee Wright, Mia Brennan, Miller Thompson, Tayla Wright and Summer Weir.


Cove won their eighth game of 2025 with a comfortable 66-point victory over Ironbank Cherry Gardens last Friday night at Cherry Gardens. The Cobras led by 32 points at halftime, before kicking six goals to one in the second half to win 12.11 (83) to 2.5 (17). Ella Gill, Jaime Norup, Alexis Harvey and Jaymie Savaidis kicked two goals each for the Cobras, while Josie Harris and Olivia Walker-Obushak kicked a goal apiece for the Thunderers. Best players for the Cobras were Angelique Dean, Gill, Norup, Dana O'Brien, Georgia Hayford and Cally Swalue. Best for Ironbank Cherry Gardens included Jessie O’Brien, Walker-Obushak, Tahlia Ward, Paige Ridley and Harris.
