Blackwood had a good win to start their 2025 season after defeating Christies Beach by 59 points at Bice Oval during round two action in the Southern Football League Women’s (SFLW) competition on Sunday.The Woods won every quarter on their way to a 10.6 (66) to 1.1 (7) triumph. Claire Collins (3), Caitlin Hill (2) and Ava Bagshaw (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Blackwood, while their best players were Rileigh Abbott, Simi Dhaliwal, Collins, Lila Cormack-Pinder, Holly Santibanez and Hill. Best players for Christies Beach included Chloe Brooks, Shakaya Johnson, Madison Marsh, Shania-Rayne Walker-Murphy, Montanna Hartley and Nikki Duggan.
Cove continued their good start to the season with a comfortable 73-point win against Ironbank Cherry Gardens at Hallett Cove on Sunday. The Cobras led by 29 points at halftime, before kicking a further eight goals to one to win 13.7 (85) to 2.0 (12). Lauren Kenny was best-on-ground for Cove and she was well supported by Iona Parr, Genevieve Mumme, Dana O'Brien, Angelique Dean and Georgia Hayford. Best for the Thunderers included Tahlia Ward, Olivia Walker-Obushak, Audrey Myers and Georgia Kempster.
Reigning premier Port Noarlunga are undefeated after two rounds following a low-scoring 15-point win against Hackham. ‘Porties’ led at every change to win 4.4 (28) to 2.1 (13). Lucinda Bunge kicked two goals for Port Noarlunga, while Alana Browne and Caitlin Curyer were the goalkickers for the Hawks. Best players for the victorious Cockle Divers were Eilish O’Hanlon, Amelia Hardy, Abby Dittmar, Tegan Yeomans, Lucinda Bunge and Amy Skingsley. Hackham was best served by Browne, Shayley MacFadyen, Alisha MacFadyen, Olivia Cumming, Chelsea Parsons and Stephanie Clarke.
Flagstaff Hill are also undefeated after defeating Reynella by 30 points on Sunday. ‘Flaggies’ held a slender three-point lead at halftime, before kicking four unanswered goals in the second half to run out winners 7.6 (48) to 2.6 (18). Jessica Couch was a star up forward for the Falcons with six goals, while their best players were Sienna Chapman, Ebony Scanlan, Brooke May, Emma Hayhurst, Lara Sarre and Couch. Best for the Wine Flies included Sienna Garner, Mia Brennan, Tayla Wright, Caitlin Williams, Ashlee Wright and Scarlett Bradford.
