Work starts on Main South Road overtaking lanes

Site works investigating overtaking lanes on Main South Road between Myponga and Cape Jervis were due to start today, Thursday 11 May.

The Fleurieu Connections Alliance, on behalf of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, is conducting a planning study to investigate potential options for the construction of three overtaking lanes between Myponga and Cape Jervis.

Site investigations to assist with this planning to better understand the existing conditions will continue until Thursday 24 August, weather permitting.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4pm.

The investigations include:

  • Location of underground services.
  • Geotechnical and environmental investigations
  • Flora and Fauna assessments along the road corridor.
  • Aboriginal and cultural heritage assessments.

Road users are advised to take extra care when workers are on site and observe speed and lane restrictions and signage when travelling through the area.

Fleurieu Connections Alliance says the investigation sites do not necessarily correspond to areas that will be impacted by the project in the design.

They have chosen the  locations to minimise impacts on the community and for the best overall understanding of local conditions.

Fleurieu Connections Alliance can be contacted about the project on 1300 896 826 or via email
