Construction of the new Strathalbyn ambulance station will start next month.
The $4.4M station will be located on Dry Plains Road and will be operational by the end of the year.
SA Ambulance have incorporated Reconciliation Action Plan artworks into the building design.
The Strathalbyn station is staffed by a mixture of volunteer and paid ambulance officers and paramedics.
There are more than 1500 volunteers at regional stations across the state and SA Ambulance is currently searching for more volunteer ambulance officers.
There is a minimum commitment of 30 hours and full training is provided.
The number of ambulances, paramedics and infrastructure for SA Ambulance on the Fleurieu has been a hot topic in the state election.
The Liberal Party promised last year to fund an additional 74 paramedics across the state following industrial action by the Ambulance Employees Association (AEA).
The Labor Party has promised to employ 278 additional paramedics and 72 ambulance officers over the next four years, if elected.

The AEA has continued to campaign on the issue throughout the election campaign and on Saturday tweeted, “There’s currently an emergency in Port Elliot and the closest ambulance is currently on the way from … Noarlunga.”
Local services were stretched over the long weekend as tourists flocked to the South Coast to take advantage of the weather and attend local concerts and events.
