Writer workshops and a poetry launch

Dr Kathryn Pentecost will resume her free writing workshops at the Yankalilla Library from Thursday 25 March.

The workshops are suitable for adult writers and will run from 10.30am-12.30pm. They can be booked as individual sessions.

Dr Pentecost has been guiding emerging writers for several years at the library, and is keen to continue to help participants to hone their writing skills.

This year the workshops will focus on several themes through specific exercises with the aim of building a body of work.

Bookings are essential through Eventbrite.

Under her pen name KP van der Poel, Dr Pentecost will also launch her first poetry anthology Metamorphosis at the library.

The indoor/outdoor event will take place on Saturday 27 March from 1.30-3pm, with light refreshments provided.

Spanning 40 years of writing, the anthology’s themes evolve out of the author’s physical and emotional immersion in nature, personal relationships, and a sense of place.

The poems are grouped into various traditional categories as pastoral poems, odes, lyric poems, elegies, and ballads, grouped by form rather than subject.

The event is free and bookings are essential via Eventbrite.

Yankalilla Library is at 181 Main South Road.
