Australia’s largest free literary festival, Adelaide Writers’ Week, comes to the Fleurieu through live streaming to libraries in Aldinga, Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor and Yankalilla.
Writers Week takes place on two stages in the Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden from 27 February to 8 March.
Sessions held on the East stage from Monday 2 March to Thursday 5 March will be live streamed directly to the libraries, supported by the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card.
The festival brings together international and Australian authors for a week of discussion and debate across all literary genres.
The 2020 theme is Being Human, one of the few things that unites us all in a divided world.
Through the words and minds of great thinkers, Writers’ Week explores how humans engage with each other, with technology, with the natural world.
It examines the stories we tell ourselves and those we construct. It asks from where we can draw solace and inspiration. It challenges us to avoid apathy and despair. It applauds our curiosity in and engagement with the wider world. It seeks joy and stimulation in our intellect and each other.
The East stage sessions run between 9.30am and 6pm, but the libraries have different opening and closing times that may affect their ability to stream all sessions offered by Writers' Week.
