Preparation is well underway for the biennial Festival Fleurieu, a cultural and arts extravaganza to be held across the Easter School holidays from 19 to 27 April.

An innovation for the 2025 festival is the inaugural Fleurieu Writers Competition, organised by the Books and Words Group.

There are two categories: short stories up to 2000 words and poetry up to 40 lines; which will be judged by a panel of three local literati.

The competition is open to all Fleurieu residents aged 16+ and entry is free of charge.

There will be three prizes in each category: $750 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 book voucher third prize.

Closing date for submissions is Friday 28 February; winners will be announced during the Festival Fleurieu.
