There are three candidates for the Light Ward supplementary election in the District Council of Yankalilla.

They are Gavin Denton, Karen Hatch and Shane Grocke. Mr Denton and Mr Grocke previously stood for Light Ward in the 2022 council election.

Nominations closed at 12noon on Thursday 6 June and the Electoral Commission South Australia (ECSA) held a ballot draw shortly after.

Voting will be conducted by post, with ECSA sending out ballot papers to eligible voters on the electoral roll.

The deadline for postal ballots to be returned is 12noon on Monday 22 July and they will be scrutinised from 1pm on Tuesday 23 July. 

Light Ward covers Normanville and Yankalilla and returns five councillors in total.

The vacancy occurred following the resignation of Councillor Bill Verwey, who stepped down for personal reasons.
