The end of the school holidays will see the City of Victor Harbor begin work on a coastal defence sea wall on Franklin Parade in Encounter Bay from Monday 28 April.
It aims to deliver immediate and long-term protection from coastal erosion and storm surge, which the council says has been causing significant damage.
This will be achieved through upgrades to the shared path, stormwater, rock wall, landscaping and beach access.
Stage 1 of the project is from Fell Street to Charles Street and will continue until late November.
Hours of work will be 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work as required.
Traffic restrictions will apply to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to ensure public safety, but local access will be maintained.
Franklin Parade will be reduced to one-way traffic between Fell Street and Charles Street, with detours in place.
The coastal footpath will be closed for the duration of the works and the beach next to the construction zone will be closed.
For more information about the works including detour maps visit the council website.
