Youth arrested for robbery

A teenager has been arrested following a robbery at a Brighton bottle shop last night.

About 8.15pm on Wednesday 16 November, a youth entered a bottle shop on Brighton Road at Brighton and allegedly stole an amount of alcohol.

A security member attempted to stop the juvenile from leaving the store when he produced a knife and threatened the member.

The juvenile was last seen fleeing on foot, running across Sturt Road and then south onto Arundel Road.

Patrols were quickly on scene and liaised with the camera operators for the railway stations who identified the suspect boarding a south bound train at the Brighton Railway Station.

A short time later the suspect was spotted waiting for a bus at the Seaford Train station, where he was arrested without incident.  A 13-year-old boy from Sellicks Beach was charged with aggravated robbery.  He was granted bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 19 January.
