Youths arrested for illegal interference at Sellicks Beach

Three youths were arrested for allegedly trying to break into cars at Sellicks Beach overnight.

About 3am on Monday 27 May, police received a call from a resident in Crystal Harmony Court, Sellicks Beach after he spotted a group of youths trying the door handles of several vehicles in the street on his doorbell camera.

Patrols obtained a description of the group and searched the neighbourhood.  They pulled over an Uber on Justs Road that was seen leaving the area.  The Uber contained three young passengers, one of whom was allegedly in possession of a balaclava and gloves.

A 16-year-old boy from Seaford Meadows, a 16-year-old Aldinga Beach boy, and a 17-year-old Aldinga Beach boy were arrested and charged with attempted illegal interference.  The older boy was also charged with carrying an article of disguise.

They were bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on 8 August.

Investigations are continuing to identify and locate a fourth male believed to have been with the group.

At this stage it doesn't appear that anything was stolen, but police ask residents to check their vehicles this morning and report any interference with or theft from their cars.
