A fire from a previous burn off has reignited this morning, Thursday 30 May, and spread through pine trees onto a residential property at Yundi, near Mount Compass on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
CFS responded to multiple triple 0 calls and sent 35 volunteer firefighters on six trucks and two bulk water carriers.
The fire engulfed a large 30m x 10m shed which stored farm machinery – including a new excavator, and it also stored the family business - a wedding and party hire equipment company.
Crews worked hard, and in the rain, to stop the fire from spreading into a granny flat and they also saved the two-storey residential home- which are roughly valued at $500,000.
No one was injured, however the main shed, a smaller shed and nearby water tanks could not be saved, and the damage bill is estimated at $750,000.
