This year’s Murray Darling Association National Conference will be a virtual event, allowing wider access to the community.

Alexandrina Council will jointly host the 76th national conference and AGM with the City of Greater Shepparton, featuring exceptional speakers, big ideas and local solutions.

The theme of this year’s event will be ‘Local Leadership: A National Priority’, with two and a half days of forward-thinking discussion on how a healthy Murray Darling Basin can support thriving communities, economic development and sustainable productivity.

It will be held from 14 September to 16 September as a fully virtual event, which can be attended by all in the Basin from the comfort of their home, study or office.

Keynote speaker Professor Tim Flannery and author Bruce Pascoe will join senior politicians and public servants, authors, experts and community leaders to talk through solutions for the Basin’s future and the critical role that local communities play.

Other key speakers include:

  • The Hon. Michael McCormack, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Infrastructure, Transport & Regional Development.
  • The Hon. Keith Pitt, Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia
  • Fiona Simson, President, National Farmers Federation
  • Liz Ritchie, Regional Australia Institute
  • Mick Keogh, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
  • Jody Swirepik, Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder
  • Chris Olszak, AITHER

The cost for 10 registrations will be less that the cost of sending a single person to a traditional conference, giving terrific value to communities across the footprint and support for the amazing line-up of speakers assembled.
