A dog attack at Christies Beach last week has left a local pensioner with a hefty vet bill and a broken heart.
Owner of Coastal Pet Services, Magda, says one of her elderly clients was walking her dog Addie when they were both attacked by an uncontrolled Staffordshire-cross.
Addie was rushed to a local vet and underwent surgery but died the next day from the severity of her injuries.
Pat, her owner, was also injured and is in a state of shock.
Magda says a council investigation into the attack is underway but the owners of the dog have not yet offered any compensation for the $4000 vet bill incurred.
“I often walk dogs in the area where the incident happened so it could have been me,” Magda said in a Facebook post.
“My client lost her precious companion and is left with vet bills.”
“She’s a pensioner so that kind of unexpected expense is a huge financial burden for her.
A gofundme fundraiser has been set up to help Addie’s heartbroken owner.
