GoPro lost at Rapid Bay washes up on the far side of Yorke PeninsulaThe picture shared by SA Police showing the old Rapid Bay Jetty in the background

A GoPro lost at Rapid Bay more than five weeks ago has washed up more than 160km away, on the western side of the Yorke Peninsula.

The GoPro was recently found by beach goers at Port Annie who handed into police.

South Australian Police posted a picture of the GoPro and some of the images it contained on Facebook yesterday.

The old Rapid Bay Jetty was immediately recognisable to locals and divers in the background of one of the photographs.

The SA Police post was shared into a number of Facebook groups, leading to a local diver recognising it as one he lost at Rapid Bay late last year.

“What are the chances of that, huh!!” he commented.

Despite being at sea for such a long time the GoPro is still operational.

Other divers speculated that the GoPro could have travelled behind Kangaroo Island and around to the western side of Yorke Peninsula.

Whichever way it went the camera must have been carried by the currents for at least 250-300kms.
