Granite Island cafe reopening a step closer

The reopening of the café on Granite Island is a step closer with the Department for Environment and Water currently advertising for staff to operate the facility.

The Department has advertised for a café manager, assistant café manager and multiple casual café assistants.

Applications for the positions close on Wednesday October 5 and have to be submitted via the iworkfor.sa.gov.au website.

The positions of café manager and assistant café manager are being offered as two-year contracts. The manager’s position is offering a minimum starting salary of $65 606.

The operators of Oceanic Victor announced in July that they no longer held the lease on the Granite Island Recreation Park and would not be reopening the Island’s café.

They also indicated that work would need to be done on the Screwpile Jetty to enable the tuna pen to be returned to the area and swimming with tuna experiences to be reinstated.
