More Fleurieu businesses and clubs hit by COVID

The Port Elliot Cricket Club, Hotel Elliot, Yankalilla Bakery, Islanders’ Tavern on Hindmarsh Island, Terry White Chemmart in the Victor Central Shopping Centre and the Spring Roads Cellar Door on Kangaroo Island are some of the latest local businesses to be affected by COVID-19.


The Hotel Elliot has advised that four patrons who attended the hotel and dined in the outdoors area on Sunday January 2 have since tested positive.


The Yankalilla Bakery has been advised of positive cases attending their shop on January 2 and 3 but have not specified the times.


The Terry White Chemmart in the Victor Harbor Central Shopping Centre underwent a deep clean on Thursday after a staff member returned a positive test. They last worked in the pharmacy on Saturday January 1 and Monday January 3. 


On Hindmarsh Island the Islanders’ Tavern was closed on Wednesday January 5 when three of their kitchen staff were placed in quarantine after their house mate tested positive for COVID. 


The Tavern has since reopened for drink service and light snacks but have advised that as they only one chef currently able to work they are unable to serve meals until Monday at the earliest.


The Port Elliot Cricket Club have cancelled their matches for this weekend due to the number of players recovering from the virus or in isolation as close contacts.


Due to the large number of cases in the local area the Alexandrina Wildlife Support Group have decided to close their Goolwa charity barn for the foreseeable future. They are still available to assist with injured native animals and can be contacted on 0419551653 or 0407726351.


The Springs Road Cellar Door advised that a staff member who worked on Monday and Tuesday last week has since tested positive.


They have now reopened after a deep clean.

Kangaroo Island - 33

Yankalilla – 22

Other SA Health data released yesterday showed that 88.7% of South Australians aged 12 and over had received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.


The number of people checking in when visiting shops or other locations has fallen sharply since Christmas.


Vaccinations for children aged between 5 and 11 will start to be administered from tomorrow. Bookings can be made via the SA Health website or through pharmacies and GP clinics.
