Nine candidates will stand for the seat of Mayo at the May 21 Federal election.
The candidates (in the order they will appear on the ballot paper:
Marisa Bell – Australian Labor Party
Padma Chaplin – Animal Justice Party
Jacob Van Raalte – Liberal Democratic Party
Rebekha Sharkie – Centre Alliance
Greg Elliot – Australian Greens
Allison Bluck – Liberal
Samantha McGrail – United Australia Party
Tonya Scott – Pauline Hanson’s One Nation
Mark Neugebauer – Australian Federation Party
Rebekha Sharkie has held the seat since 2016. She was the first non-Liberal MP to win the seat, which was held by Alexander Downer from 1984 to 2008.
Jamie Briggs held the seat for the Liberals from 2008 to 2016 but was beaten by Sharkie (his former staffer).
The last time the seat was contested, Ms Sharkie won 55.1per cent of the vote (after preferences), compared to the Liberal candidate Georgina Downer’s 44.9 per cent.
Early voting for the election will start on May 9.
