YAS Property and Development wants to rename the part of Hackham which is south of Hepenstal Road.

The area is part of the land under consideration for a 2000 home and retail urban development project.

The names being put forward for consideration are ‘Onkaparinga Views’, ‘Onkaparinga Heights’ and ‘Onkaparinga Ocean Views’.

YAS Property and Development say only renaming the part of Hackham south of Hepenstal Road would minimise the impact upon existing residents and businesses.



They want a new suburb name to 'complement the emerging character of a new master planned community' and want to incorporate the name Onkaparinga because it provides a clear sense of place and identity,

Residents can also put forward their own name suggestions provided they meet the State Government’s geographical names guidelines.

Planning Minister Nick Champion is still considering whether to approve the Hackham Code Amendment and allow the development to proceed.

Feedback on the renaming proposal can be provided via the developer's website until Friday 26 August.

The feedback will then be shared with the Minister for Planning.
