The City of Victoria Harbor has been asked to put time limits on street parks at the front and back of Whalers Restaurant, on Franklin Parade Encounter Bay.
Parking in the area, which is near the the Encounter Bay boat ramp, is in heavy demand during holidays and weekends.
Council says it has received a request to add a time limit to the 14 parks at the front of the restaurant and 39 at the rear (as shown below).
It is also considering making a clearway at the existing driveway crossover/loading zone on Jagger Road.
The information on council’s website says
“Given the high-use of the Bluff Boat Ramp area, it is anticipated that additional car parking controls, such as time limited parking, may improve visitor flow and availability of carparks.”
“Currently, these parks are available to patrons of Whalers Restaurant, patrons of Big Duck Tours and for general parking for those members of the public participating in foreshore and fishing activities.
The details of the proposal and a survey are available online.
Hard copies can also be collected from the Civic Centre at 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor.
Interested people have until 5pm on March 25 to give their opinion.
